Which is exactly why we brought you this wholesome and heartwarming animal video, to get you in the weekend mood and to help you shake off the work week grumpies. Our eponymous hero, Murphy, went viral a little while ago for adopting a rock as his egg in order to fulfill his nurturing instincts. Morphy sat and cared for the egg for weeks, trying everything he could to make his adopted offspring hatch.

However, after trying and trying, his carers took note of his efforts and decided it was time to bestow upon him an orphaned baby eagle who was in need of a parent to care for it and raise it. And suffice it to say, that this dynamic duo hit it off straight away and are destined to become lifelong buddies of the skies. Now that is one wholesome way to kick-start your weekend.

Just look at his dedication, at his commitment to caring for this rock 'egg'. Unfortunately, Murphy had to be relocated to his own enclosure when he became too defensive off his rock baby. However, this intense commitment to protecting his young is what prompted his carers to give him his own baby eagle, so who is to say what is a disproportionate response.
